Lethargy

When you have feeling of continually being exhausted and fatigued without your being capable to clarify it, you may be suffering from lethargy. It is also sign that comes with other disorders. Lethargy is a medical state described by drowsiness, sluggishness, general unresponsiveness, or tiredness. Sometime this situation is also known as fatigue, malaise or listlessness. While lethargy is normally a reaction to stress, tension or overexertion, it can also be an indication of several serious diseases and problems.

Lethargy can be result of some lifestyle and dietary choices. These include failing to drink adequate fluids and eating heavy foods like red meat and whole milk ice cream. Be in bed for very long and failure to get up and go around can also make one feel lethargic. On the other hand, drinking water regularly, eating healthy food and exercising can fight against position of lethargy.

Some people frequently mistake the medical state called lethargy with normal sluggishness. Many people also use the lethargy as a justification to get away with being lazy. It becomes difficult to differentiate one from the other, especially if the person himself is unconfident which is which. There are many disorders and problems that may be coupled with lethargy. These disorders are either physical or psychological. This lack of energy can affect anybody of any age though it is more common in older as compared to younger ones who are continually active.

Lethargy is not only the feeling of drowsiness of a person’s body but it also affects consciousness. Mental exhaustion is also fraction of lethargy. This feeling of being sleepy and weak makes one feel exhausted emotionally and it may even results to depression if left untreated.
