Eczema is common name for many types of skin inflammation, which also known as dermatitis. Eczema is commonly known as atopic eczema or atopic dermatitis. Eczema mostly affects kids, but it can keep on into adulthood or may also start later in life. Eczema is an assorted cluster of different non-infectious skin disorders. It is the most general class of skin diseases. Eczematous disorders are also common occupational diseases.
Eczema can affect persons of all age groups, although it is most common in infants. Generally in 50 percent cases eczema will permanently resolve by age of 3. In rest of the cases, the situation tends to reappear throughout in life. Persons with eczema generally have family history of this disease or a family history of some other type of allergic conditions, like Hay fever or Asthma.
Even though eczema may look diverse from one person to other. Dry, red, extremely itchy patches on the skin most often characterize it. Eczema is sometimes also referred as "the itch that rashes". Eczema can take place on any part of the body; but, in infants, eczema usually arises on the cheeks, forearms, forehead, scalp, neck and legs. In case of adults, eczema usually arises on the neck, face and inside of the knees, elbows, and ankles. In some cases, eczema may get bubble up and leak. However, there are many different forms of eczema include:
Allergic contact eczema:
A red, itchy, sensitive response when the skin has come into contact with a stuff that the immune system identifies as foreign element, like poison ivy or some preservatives in lotions or creams.
Contact eczema:
It is a restricted area reaction that includes reddishness, itching, and burning sensation when the skin has come into contact with any allergen like a cleaning agent, an irritating acid, or some other chemical
Nummular eczema:
It is coin-shaped, isolated area of irritable skin. It commonly occurs on the arms, buttocks, back, and lower legs. It may be thick, scaling, and very itchy
Stasis dermatitis:
It is a skin irritation on the lower legs, usually associated to circulatory troubles and blockage of the leg veins. It may have a light brown, or purplish-red discoloration or dark pigmentation due to obstruction and back up of the blood in the leg veins.
Seborrheic eczema :
It is a general form of mild skin irritation, which causes due to unknown reasons Normal symptoms are oily, yellowish, scaly patches on the scalp, face, ears, and rarely on other areas of the body.
