Headache is ache in the head and upper neck. It is very common place of pain in the body and it has lots of causes. Sometime it only affects some small part of the head, like the eyes or temples, but it can also affect the whole head. The ache may be severe or normal, it may come along with lots of other symptoms like light fever, vomiting or nausea.
Some known types of headache are:
Tension headache
It tends to experience like a contraction around the head. This type of headache was considered to be related with stress or bad position, resulting in stiffness of the muscles of the head and neck. Women are more expected to have tension headaches than men. Adults between the ages of 25 to 50 will have at least one tension headache in their life span.
Migraine headache
It is generally intense and aching; frequently involve only one side of the head, even though it can also affect the complete head. There is some consideration that an inequity in the nervous system may activate dilation and swelling of blood vessels in the head. This dilation and swelling is dependable for the ache experienced in a migraine headache. Generally it is coupled with light and sound sensitivity and rarely associated with vomiting and nausea. Women are more likely to have a migraine than men. In case of migraine headache a group of symptoms occurs before a headache starts.
Cluster headache
This type of headache is less common than other types of headaches and it affect men more than women. The pain of cluster headache is normally acute and stabbing and positioned behind one of the eyes. Changed blood circulation in the head blood vessels and association of the trigeminal nerve are two probable causes of cluster headache, but the exact cause is yet not clear
Other Headaches
Sometime headaches are also caused because of some serious medical condition. A harsh headache coupled with fever could point toward meningitis, or an infection of the tissues nearby the brain and spinal cord. If headache is not lasting over in hours and come with serious symptoms, like vomiting or visual changes, than should be reported to a medical professional for complete check up.
