Actually our stomach creates acid to digest the food, which we consume. This is a standard and natural procedure. Every time we eat, cells inside the lining of the stomach push acid to dissolve sumptuous food we eat. Problem happens when these cells generate huge quantity of acid, means more than stomach requirements. When there discharge of acid is more than required, it results in the sensation of immense heartburn, along with a feeling of soreness in the throat. This condition has been given the name of acidity. When someone suffering from stomach acidity he or she feel a burning feeling just above the stomach, or exact below the breastbone (the hollow piece). This is the most common indication of acidity. Some people get acid regurgitation. This occurs when sufferer lying horizontal on bed. Some people feel sour taste in mouth, which may be similar to the flavour of an orange puree that had gone decayed. Acid regurgitation mostly results to heartburn, or that ache close to the heart area. Its other symptoms are development of ulcers and dyspepsia.
Generally, acidity is not caused by a severe medical situation. In general people experience attacks of acidity only few times in a year. Sudden start of acidity is generally triggered by foods that you eat. Extreme consumption of alcohol, regularly eating spicy food and taking Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID's) can trigger acid formation and cause acidity. Fatty and spicy foods are difficult to digest in comparison with other food; this, in effect, speed up the cells that drive acid to produce more acid than is needed.
Sudden start of stomach acidity is generally called as acute stomach acidity attack. Over-the-counter (OTC) antacids to are normally sufficient to get relief from stomach pain. However, there are some acidity situations that continue. This is called as a chronic acidity condition. Stress, tension and underlying medical conditions are typically the cause of chronic stomach acidity.
