Yoga for Constipation


Constipation is a state of our digestive system where one can experiences hard feces, which is difficult to remove. Generally constipation is preservation of the stools in stomach or it is a state that causes painful and irregular bowel movements. In case of constipation movement of faeces become slow through the large intestine, and this is because of gathering of huge quantity of dry, hard faeces in the downward colon. Proper diet and lots of water or fluid with regular Yoga practice is useful to control constipation. Yoga for constipation is helpful in proper digestion of the food and it also removes toxins from the body. Yoga enhanced the supply of fresh and oxygenated blood to different organs of the body. Due to fresh supply of oxygen muscles become stress-free and body feels re-energized. Different asanas of yoga for constipation are:

  • Hero's pose (Virasana)
    By practicing this pose fat around the thighs & calves get reduced. This asana is also useful in recovery of digestive system.

  • Down facing hero's pose (Adho Mukha Virasana)
    This asana quietens the mind so that tension get reduced and it is also helpful to reduce fat around the thighs & calves.

  • Cobbler pose in lying position (Supta badhha konasana)
    This asana is good for controlling blood pressure. It reduces the blood pressure.

  • Hero's pose in lying position (Supta Virasan)
    With the help of this asana congestion in pelvic organs reduces and it also flatten and tone the spine.

  • Gas releasing pose (Pavanmuktasana)
    This asana is excellent for digestive problems like dyspepsia, constipation, flatulence and colitis. It also reduces obesity of tummy, thighs and arms.

  • Head to knee pose (Janu Shirsasana)
    This asana tones whole spine and abdomen and also reduces tension and stress from mind.

  • Back spine stretching pose (Pachimottanasana)
    It improves digestion.
